Life
Charnwood Lodge is a warm, welcoming and friendly home that has some very special features. We have six living areas to relax in and enjoy company, including television rooms and lounges as well as our large downstairs area with a library, internet room and cafe to enjoy visits from relatives and friends.
All our residents have their own comfortable and spacious en-suite bedroom, which can be personalise to their individual tastes. We also welcome couples into the home.
We have beautiful sensory gardens, so residents can enjoy relaxation and activity outdoors.
Food and Nutrition
Mealtimes represent an important social occasion for our residents and we work to ensure they are as enjoyable as possible, unhurried and relaxed with residents being given plenty of time to eat and enjoy their meal.
Our chefs prepare nutritious and delicious meals, which are freshly made in the home. We also cater for people who may have specialist dietary needs.
After visiting a total of five different care homes in the Dumfries area my brothers and our wives awarded a series of points for various factors in order to decide what the best care home would be for mum. For us Charnwood Lodge came out ahead conclusively.
Care and Support
At Charnwood Lodge, we run an extensive activity programme and support people to enjoy days out in the community too. By getting to know the people we support well, we are able to offer activities that meet their different passions and interests, including fun one-to-one and group activities, such as arts and crafts, reminiscence sessions, garden parties and quiz and games nights. We also hold regular social events for people we support and their families, including performances from local entertainers.
We welcome the contribution of family members as well as feedback and ideas on our activities and suggestions for future activities and events.
Useful information
All our staff receive specialist training and mentoring and really get to know the people we support. To achieve this, we spend time understanding their life story and the things that are important to them, so we focus on the things that really matter to them.
Every person we support has a named key worker who helps develop their own personalised care.
We have strong links with The Alzheimer’s Society and local advocacy groups.
