Situated in Stranraer Thorney Croft is a warm, welcoming and friendly 60 bed residential care home which provides specialist care and support to older people and people living with dementia.
Life
Our home has some wonderful spaces to relax and enjoy company of friends and family, including an activities room, TV lounges and small kitchenettes.
All bedrooms are comfortable and spacious with en-suite facilities. We encourage people to personalise their rooms with small items that remind them of home. We have beautiful sensory gardens, so people we support can enjoy relaxation and activity outdoors.
We run an extensive activity programme including one-to-one and group activities, such as arts and crafts, reminiscence sessions, pamper days, gardening and cinema nights. We also support people to enjoy days out in the community too. By getting to know the people we support well, we are able to offer activities that meet their different passions and interests.
Food and Nutrition
Mealtimes represent an important social occasion for our residents and we work to ensure they are as enjoyable as possible, unhurried and relaxed with residents being given plenty of time to eat and enjoy their meal.
We make a point of celebrating birthdays and special occasions, as well as celebrating and dressing up for national festivities such as St Andrew’s Day, Mother’s Day and Burns Night.
Our chefs prepare nutritious and delicious meals, which are freshly made. We also support people who have specialist diets.

We are committed to providing personalised care and support that ensures our residents lead active, happy and fulfilled lives:
All staff receive specialist training and mentoring. We really get to know our residents and spend time understanding their life story and the things that are important to them, so we can focus on the things that really matter to them.
Every resident has a named key worker who helps develop their own personalised care.
We hold a regular forum with residents, enabling them to voice their views on the day-to-day running of our home.
