Merse House is a 32 bed care home based in Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland, providing specialist residential care to older people and people living with dementia. Overlooking the River Dee it is close to many areas of outstanding beauty.
Life
Merse House is a warm, welcoming and friendly home that has some very special features as well as some wonderful spaces to relax in and enjoy company, including lounges, dining areas and an activities are. The home also has a hairdressing salon which is popular with everyone.
All our bedrooms are comfortable and spacious with en-suite facilities. We encourage people to personalise their rooms with small items that remind them of home.
We run an extensive programme of activities for everyone to enjoy, from one to one and group activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, quiz and game nights and sing-alongs, as well as hosting regular social events, including performances from local entertainers. We also support people to enjoy days out in the community too!
Food and Nutrition
Mealtimes represent an important social occasion and we work to ensure they are as enjoyable as possible, unhurried and relaxed with everyone given plenty of time to eat and enjoy their meal, while chatting and socialising with other residents.
We make a point of celebrating birthdays and special occasions, as well as celebrating and dressing up for national festivities such as St Andrew’s Day, Mother’s Day and Burns Night
Our chefs prepare nutritious and delicious meals, which are freshly made on site. We also support people who have specialist diets.
Care and Support
We are committed to providing personalised care and support that encourages everyone who live at Carlingwark House to lead a full, happy and independent life.
Our colleagues receive specialist training and mentoring to support them in their role and we encourage them to really get to know the people we support, spend time understanding their life story and the things that are important to them, so that we can focus on the things that really matter to them.
Every person we support has a named key worker who works with them to help develop their own personalised care plan.
